A Message from the Superintendent

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! This year you can expect to see some changes in the type of work your child brings home from school as the district’s teachers implement the Common Core State Standards. We will also be introducing a new report card for grades one and two. You can be assured that Manalapan-Englishtown Regional Schools’ long tradition of excellence that culminated with two of its schools being designated “STAR” schools by the New Jersey Department of Education, as well as being recognized for “Best Practices”, will continue. Working together with you, we will provide your children with a positive educational experience this year.

For all questions about your child’s education, the first contact should be the teacher or principal. If your concerns need further resolution, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

The district went “Green” in 2010-2011. In 2012-2013 we will be making several changes to our procedures. First, to improve the delivery of information to parents so it is easier to discriminate between an important communication from your child’s school and the numerous community announcements the district sends out as a community service, all community announcements will only be sent out on the 15th and the 30th of each month. Additionally, for the first time, your student’s ID number which is in the Point-of-Sale letter will be used to distribute bus passes online. And finally, the report cards at MEMS will also no longer be sent home since they will be available to parents through the Parent Portal.

Most district staff members can be emailed by first initial, last name and then the district address (jdoe@mers.k12.nj.us). You can also leave a voice mail for your child’s teacher or principal by following the menu when you dial the school.
